Our first day began at 4 a.m. in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico. Once we arrived in Clínica Bantiox, a medical clinical facility that provides free medical services to people in Puerto Rico, the brigade was separated into two groups. Breaking up in groups of two with an assigned faculty member was the best use of our labor during our time there. The first group remained in Toa Baja to organize a large warehouse or pharmaceutical and medical supplies and donated resources used and distributed to patients who are unable to receive medical care directly at this clinic location. This team had the opportunity to organize and take inventory of various supplies to ensure the efficiency of the clinic and assist the ongoing efforts of the dispersed medical brigades that the other team was accompanying.
